I’m Richard Freeland—fiction author, teller of tales where strange creatures slip through the cracks of reality or psyche, and fan of all things haunted, hidden, or hilariously human. I write paranormal thrillers and horror, tales of the macabre, often born from my Southern roots. Sometimes I drift into other genres if a story idea latches on with its claws and won’t let go.
This newsletter is where I share what I’m working on, what keeps me up at night, and what stories or storytellers I think you’ll love too. You’ll also get the occasional peek behind the curtain: how I build my books, wrestle with plot twists, or try (and fail) to ignore the drama generated by my two weird cats while I’m writing. They think they’re my muses.
